I should know better than to shout out about the animals that will be visiting someplace. It’s much safer to tell the story AFTER it has already happened when dealing with animals…especially goat kids!
The look on my husband’s face this morning about 15 minutes before I was to leave for the preschool visit told me that a change of plans was in order. He had been chasing the 2 week old goat kids around long enough and decided that the one week old lamb was much more suited to a school visit. Fine with me…
I recalled last year’s goat visit where the adorable little fuzzy bundles were snugly situated in a cardboard box on the way to the school. The way back was a different story. Luckily, our then 9 year old son was along to help and managed to somehow corral the babes and keep his own seatbelt on until I could pull over in a safe spot. I put them back in their carrier and prayed that they’d stay there. They did, for about 3 minutes and then I saw one staring at me in my rear view mirror. These were 1 week old goat kids, mind you. I’m not yet crazy enough to try and travel with a larger sized animal in my cross-over vehicle. But these two little babes were more like monkeys than any farm animal you could imagine! Once again, Wyatt saved the day and grabbed the wee one before anyone was the wiser (I’m still not certain that I’m much wiser!) and we made it home despite the side-splitting laughter that filled our car that day.
Ahhh, memories. I’m glad we took the lamb.
She was perfect. Ryder read a story to the class and he was perfect. The preschoolers were perfect too. It was 75 degrees out today. Perfect. What are the chances we’ll have another perfect day like this tomorrow? Hee hee….I tempt fate too often!
